Turkish Australians, who moved to this great country, recognised Atatürk’s effects on their lives and on Turkey’s modernisation, and yearned to not only to honour him, but to keep his vision alive. The rise of Islamic fundamentalism in Turkey, and other developments away from Atatürk’s secular principles were among the motivations for establishing Australian Atatürk Cultural Centre (AACC) and working to keep Atatürk’s vision alive.
