Knock Shrine Welcome to the Marian Shrine, Knock, Co. Mayo. The Story of Knock began on Aug. 21st, 1879, Our Lady, St. Joseph and St. John the Evangelist appeared at the parish church at Knock. Beside them and a little to their left was an altar with a cross and the figure of a lamb, around which angels hovered. Those who witnessed the apparition stood in the pouring rain for two hours praying the Rosary.
